Sex on fire!
Hey guys, hope you have survived your August full of festivals, whichever one you may have chosen to rock. I know we have loved every minute of it.
As you know, we were living it up in the V fields this month and oh how very pleasurable it was. Not only did we have VIP tickets, we lived in style...well, we lived in Bella actually (our 5* luxury campervan with double beds, showers, toilets, fridges, you name it, we had it). Bloody marvellous. Here is a little insight to our fun filled weekend;
Friday
Hit the road at around 2pm after planning to set off at 10am!! We have picked up the Max & Paddy van and the fridge is fully stocked (after a trying time at ASDA attempting to push a trolley full of food and booze up the un-operational escalator to head to the clothing department before getting stuck and having to do a U turn). Arrive at V around 5pm (no traffic much to our surprise – Mark panicking thinking it had been cancelled). Pitched up when the first catastrophe happens...can’t find pegs for the awning!! After 30 minutes of tipping the caravan upside down, Mark finds them! So off we go to collect our VIP tickets. Total relief to see we were top of the guest list after the assistant just laughed at us after mentioning James Brown!! Clearly she is not up to date with who’s hot and who’s not! Nearly tea time and Mike serves up burgers and chips, after successfully activating the smoke alarm, which created a scene and sent a text message to the owner of Bella letting them know that she was on fire!!! The smoke alarm was dismantled and all was ok. Then the campervan alarm goes off...creating another scene, and another text message! Mark starts a new obsession with the toilet which wouldn’t flush. He refuses to rest until he has fathomed it out. 2 hours later, Mark sits down with his beer. Beers in hand, discussions on the way, Laura embarrassingly brings up the fact that it is a stupid idea to have the Olympics in London this year as of course they are going to get flooded...only to be told they are being held in Beijing this year!??? Laura, put the wine down! The camera follows and out comes the start of some crazy footage, no words to describe, just check the gallery...!
Saturday
Mark is the first in the bathroom as he knows if Sarah gets in there, there is no hope for the rest of us. After 2 hours of waiting for Sarah to finish cleansing her face, brushing her teeth and parading round the campervan as part of a fashion show, we finally head out to see our first band, Noah and the Whale. Before doing this me and Mike are in dying need of a hot drink as we are old and can’t hack it! Therefore, part with our first £2.50 of the day. After this we head straight to the VIP tent where I bump into Loui (Sarah) out of Hollyoaks and offer her a pair of welly’s. She is very excited by this and we took a quick snap for the gallery. After this, we do a quick round of flyering before heading out of there to see our next band and feeling a little tipsy. Tonight is the night of Kings of Leon and so far Sarah has done nothing but tell everyone she meets, that they are a fabulous band and if they weren’t going to see them exactly what she thought of them...KOL comes out, heavens open, we get soaked and Sarah is the only one who knows the words to their new single Sex on fire. The crowd was very impressed, we were very embarrassed...(just kidding Sarah, your enthusiasm inspires us! The beautiful lead singer of KOL, Caleb was slightly drunk on stage which made Sarah’s day even more when he started to talk!! Not something he does very often. Back to Bella for some late night snacking and some ipod-ing, of the KOL of course, to calm Sarah before bed. Bless her, she was tired after her fun-filled day.
Sunday
Up nice n early to make sure Sarah starts getting ready early. 3 hours later, we leave base and head off to see LOADS of great bands including Maximo Park, Pigeons and Muse. By 5pm we are covered in mud (including Colin...he is my most favourite accessory at the moment, named after my dad!) from top to toe and we do not care. Fantastic day, even though I did scare the hell out of Kim Ryder by bouncing over to her, having more than enough to drink and offering her a pair of Bohemian Dancers. I think she said yes out of fear...bless her :)
Monday
Its 5am and freezing. Mike wants to set off early to miss the traffic. We all drag ourselves out of bed for support only to find out that nobody can leave the sight unless they are dragged out by the huge Massey Ferguson which was charging £10 per campervan to toe...even worse to find out we had no idea where the toeing eye was!! After around an hour, we find the toeing eye, pay the farmer and we are on our way, everyone asleep but Mike...so much for the support!! Thanks Mike :) we love ya xxx
We can wait for next year to check out more festivals and see many more great bands. Thanks to the people we saw in our wedgewellys, we hope they were very comfy and did you proud! We know ours did.
